Do you remember the last time you felt relaxed?

If you don’t remember the last time you felt relaxed you are not alone.

In a city where being busy is seen as a status symbol, and relaxation seen as a luxury, it is not surprising to find that many people are slowly forgetting how relaxation feels.

Found out how to recognize signs of stress and how you can help yourself.

I find in my 20 years treating patients, symptoms such as digestive issues, heart palpitations and anxiety are on the rise, with the age of those affected is getting younger.

Exhaustion is now becoming the normal state of being, and stress is the normal state of the mind...

Good news is our body can heal itself.

We can do it by reminding the body what it means to relax and how to do it so it can return to its optimal state.

In this article we will learn how to rewire our body and mind to remember the feeling of relaxation.

Physical Stress Symptoms include:

  • Rapid Pulse

  • Fatigue

  • Body Aches (especially neck pain)

  • Digestive issues

  • Heartburn

  • Heart palpitation

  • Consistent illness

Mental Stress Symptoms include:

  • Over thinking

  • Excessive Planning

  • Anxiety

  • Mood swings

Let’s begin:

1) First you must choose a method of relaxation that makes sense to you. Everybody is different. To one person sitting down to get a foot massage could be relaxing, while another may find the experience stressful.

So the trick is to be honest with yourself and choose a relaxation treatment or activity that feels easy for your mind to understand.

2) No matter what is going on with your life, schedule a time in your calendar to do an activity to help you relax and slow down.

3) When participating in the event or activity eg. going for a run or having massage, Be Present.

Allow yourself to feel the feeling of relaxation. The sensation can be very subtle. Pay attention to how your body is responding when calm. Imagine taking a snapshot of that feeling and when you start feeling restless, remind yourself of that calm feeling.

There are many methods to relax your body / mind, here are some ideas you may try:

Treatments: Acupuncture, Massage Therapy, Osteopathy, Kinesiology or Homeopathy

Physical practices: Go for a walk, run, participate in a sport

Talk therapy: This could be to friends, family, or professionals

The stress and its effects is different for everyone. With Acupuncture I can help you find the source and by addressing it, together we can eliminate the symptoms.
