Allergic Rhinitis - Homeopathic Case Study

Michelle Ricaille gives us a sneak peak into how she was consulted for a case of Allergic Rhinitis. She explains how she approached the patient and lets us in as to how she successfully treated him.

In December last year, a young man came into The Round Clinic to see me for help with his allergic rhinitis which he had since 2012 when he arrived in Hong Kong.

He had tried various conventional medications with only temporary relief.

The most common signs and symptoms of allergic rhinitis are sneezing, runny or stuffy nose, cough, postnasal drip, itchy eyes, nose, throat and watery eyes.

During his first appointment we spent 1 hour, where he was asked many questions in order to find and prescribe what we call his constitutional remedy, the remedy which matches all of the symptoms.

Eg. when are symptoms worse, when are they better, personality, etc. All of these are important to find the correct remedy for the person.

This young man was instructed to take his newly given remedy once a day for 20 days. After 7 days into the treatment, he noticed a tremendous improvement in his symptoms, of almost 50%. This continued until the end of his remedy when he did a follow-up visit.

At the follow-up visit, after carefully consulting the various effects, improvements, additional complaints etc, I prescribed the same remedy in a slightly higher potency. This time for 10 days. Again after 7 days he noticed another big improvement in his symptoms, almost 80-90% gone. After the 10 days he did one last follow up with me where I prescribed another remedy but in a very high potency. He took the remedy for 2 days and his symptoms where totally gone.

It has been eight months since this young man has had any symptoms of allergic rhinitis.
